EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc., PBC Honored with Maryland Green Registry Leadership Award

Hunt Valley, Maryland (8 July 2016)—EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc., PBC (EA), a leading provider of interdisciplinary environmental services, announced today that it was one of five organizations recognized with a 2016 Leadership Award by the Maryland Green Registry. The Maryland Green Registry recognized EA for its strong commitment to sustainability, measurable results, and continual improvement. The award ceremony took place on 14 June 2016 in Baltimore, Maryland, during an event held in partnership with the U.S. Green Building Council.

A member of the Maryland Green Registry since 2010, EA’s achievements span the full breadth of sustainability principles. On the corporate level, EA aligned its business and corporate social responsibility strategies when it reorganized as a 100% Employee Stock Ownership (ESOP)-owned, Public Benefit Corporation in 2014. On the operations side, the company has had a formal corporate social responsibility program in place since 2008, including governance, establishment of goals, training and awareness, and communication and reporting using Global Reporting Initiative guidance. In the area of facilities management, EA consolidated its Baltimore-area corporate offices into a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum-certified building, located in Hunt Valley, Maryland, and earned LEED Gold for Commercial Interiors for its office space build-out.

“Membership in the Maryland Green Registry is a great way for our team of EA Sustainers to share best practices with other organizations in an open, collaborative setting,” stated Ian MacFarlane, President and Chief Executive Officer. “EA is committed to continually improving our environmental performance and integrating sustainable policies and ‘green’ practices throughout all facets of our organization, ultimately embedding them within our corporate culture. It is rewarding that our corporate-wide efforts have earned such stellar recognition.”
