Hunt Valley, Maryland (21 April 2015)—EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc., PBC (EA), a leading provider of interdisciplinary environmental services, announced today that Peter Ney, EA’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and a member of the company’s Board of Directors, was recognized as a Best in Finance: 2015 CFO Awards Honoree by the Baltimore Business Journal. These annual awards honor Baltimore’s top financial executives who affected far-reaching changes in their companies and organizations. This year’s eight honorees were recognized during a breakfast held on 17 April 2015 at the Hilton Baltimore.
In 2014, Peter led EA through two major transformations with the goal of achieving a sustainable ownership structure. As a result, EA is now 100 percent owned by its Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), and is a public benefit corporation under Delaware state law. During his 13-year tenure as CFO, Peter has made vast contributions to the company’s strong financial performance. Under his financial management, EA has produced 52 consecutive quarters of profitability, and the company’s share price has tripled over the past decade.
“Peter certainly deserves this honor,” stated Ian MacFarlane, President and Chief Executive Officer. “With his financial acumen, strong leadership, and collaborative style, he has played a pivotal role in making ‘finance’ a core competency at EA. Due to Peter’s efforts, EA has a sustainable ownership structure, which is aligned with our culture and vision. Through his leadership, EA’s finance and accounting function is fully integrated with our operations and long-term strategy.”
Peter holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor’s Degree from Oberlin College. He is a past president of the Baltimore Chapter of Financial Executives International, and currently serves on its Board of Directors.
