EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc. Celebrates 40th Anniversary
Hunt Valley, Maryland (30 August 2013)— EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc. (EA), a leading provider of interdisciplinary environmental services, is pleased to announce that it is celebrating its 40th year in business. Since its inception in August 1973, EA has performed more than $1.5 billion of services worldwide.
EA opened for business in 1973 as Ecological Analysts, Inc., a part-time venture run from a single office. Founded by Dr. Loren D. Jensen, a Johns Hopkins University professor, the original staff consisted of a few fisheries biologists helping electrical utilities achieve compliance with new environmental regulations. In the ensuing years, as the need for environmental services continued to expand, EA grew and steadily diversified, adding more advanced scientific, engineering, and technology capabilities to keep pace with ever-changing client needs, regulatory demands, and public concerns. Today, EA has over 400 employees and a network of 23 offices across the continental United States, as well as Alaska, Hawaii, and Guam, successfully transforming one entrepreneur’s vision into a nationally recognized industry leader.
“It is great to look back and see how far EA has come and the advancements that have been made in the environmental industry,” said Dr. Loren Jensen, Founder and Chairman of EA’s Board of Directors. “The success of our first 40 years is certainly a testament to our skilled and talented professionals and their commitment and dedication to quality service and customer satisfaction.”
Earlier this summer, EA celebrated the company’s 40th anniversary by hosting an open house at its new Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)-certified corporate headquarters. The event featured an afternoon of learning with thought leaders of today presenting their distinctive insights on environmental, water, and sustainability issues. Ian MacFarlane, EA’s President and Chief Executive Officer, provided opening remarks and served as moderator. Panelists included Lieutenant Governor Anthony Brown, State of Maryland; Major General Merdith “Bo” Temple (retired), Former Acting Chief of Engineers, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE); Dr. Nicholas Jones, Executive Vice President and Provost, The Pennsylvania State University; and Andrew Paterson, Principal and Federal Markets Analyst, Environmental Business International, Inc.
In addition, the event featured guided tours highlighting the sustainability features of EA’s new LEED Platinum-certified building, EA’s LEED Gold-certified commercial interior space, as well as state-of-the-art ecotoxicology and biology laboratories. EA subject matter experts were available to provide insight on today’s most pressing environmental issues such as energy, sustainability, stormwater management, and environmental restoration and remediation.
