Hunt Valley, Maryland (19 August 2011)—EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc. (EA), a leading provider of environmental, engineering, and program/construction management services, announced today that it has been awarded an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (ID/IQ) contract for environmental restoration services with the U.S. Department of Commerce, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). This contract has a 5-year term, with a maximum joint total acquisition value of $9,975,000 to be executed among four selected firms.

Under this contract, EA will provide the U.S. Department of Commerce and other government agencies with comprehensive professional services to support their habitat restoration and environmental programs. Individual task orders may encompass ecologic, hydrologic, and hydrogeologic assessments and studies in marine, estuarine, oceanographic, and upland habitat settings; site surveys and sampling; landscape architecture for project design; and civil engineering design, permit support, construction oversight, and project coordination for habitat protection or ecological restoration actions. EA’s first task order under this contract is to support the development of a Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement for Restoration Planning for the Gulf of Mexico Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill. As part of the execution of this task order, EA staff will work with the NOAA team to evaluate restoration alternatives for the onshore, near-shore, and offshore areas of the Gulf of Mexico that may be undertaken as part of the Natural Resource Damage Assessment that is being completed by NOAA and other federal and state trustees.

This new contract is EA’s second national IDIQ contract with NOAA. Under its previous contract, EA successfully completed 25 task orders at a variety of coastal locations in New England, southeastern United States, the Gulf of Mexico, and Alaska. Task orders included fish passage design, dam removal, non-tidal wetland and salt marsh restoration, underwater cultural resource surveys, and a wide range of related services such as permitting, regulatory interaction, and public outreach.
