ENVIRONMENTAL RESTORATION MISSION
DATASET CONTROL DOCUMENT
DULUTH AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE
Air National Guard
EA was tasked by Headquarters Air National Guard to implement the Air National Guard Environmental Restoration Mission Data Set Control Document, Version 1.0, August 2007 (Control Document) for the Duluth Air National Guard Airport as a pilot study. The Control Document specifies the geodatabase schema for environmental spatial and tabular data to be collected during environmental studies at Air National Guard facilities. Tabular data deal with the collection of environmental information from soil, sediment, surface water, and wells found at the site. Spatial data consist of horizontal positions of features associated with each site, i.e., well location and areas of concern. EA compiled the data from documents created during a 15-year period. Excel templates were created to temporarily format and store data for future automated upload to the database. The geospatial database was created using the Spatial Data Standards for Facilities, Infrastructure, and Environment (SDSFIE) schema. SDSFIE provided the Air National Guard with a standard for all bases. At project completion, EA provided the Air National Guard with lessons learned and suggestions on how to improve the Control Document.
